Treatment of mHRPC with docetaxel in combination with prednisone has been shown to prolong survival by several months. The docetaxel alone showed no effect on the number of cancer stem cells in the tumour. Capecitabine is an oral drug that delivers cytotoxic 5-fluorouracil directly to a tumor site; it has been approved for the treatment of paclitaxel- and anthracycline-resistant metastatic breast cancer and also has been approved for use in combination with docetaxel for anthracycline-resistant metastatic breast cancer. |
