The Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi) was spearheaded by the volunteer medical group Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) and five other partners: France's Institut Pasteur, the Malaysian Ministry of Health, Brazil's Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, the Kenya Medical Research Institute, and the Indian Council of Medical Research.
The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) was registered as a not-for-profit in Geneva on 3 July 2003 and is the first such organization to focus exclusively on these diseases It will work in close collaboration with the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), co-sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme, the World Bank and the World Health Organization.
This is an essential part of our goal of developing safe, effective and affordable drugs for neglected diseases in developing countries.
