Muscle-producing stem cells injected into dogs with the equivalent of Duchenne muscular dystrophy significantly slowed the disease's progression, researchers report. Because these findings parallel those in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), the study of muscle injury--its mechanisms, management, and repair--likely will provide important insights into the mechanisms underlying many of the MDs.
