EARSS is a multinational surveillance system that links national networks by collecting comparable and validated data on the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance of 5 microorganisms, including S.
The purpose of EARSS is to document variations in antimicrobial resistance over time and space to provide the basis for developing prevention programs, making policy decisions, and assessing the effectiveness of both.
EARSS was established in 1998 and currently connects >600 laboratories in 28 countries, which serve >100 million people.
