The new ECWCS gear has 12 components that can be mixed and matched depending on the conditions and how active a Soldier is. This wardrobe, called generation III of the extended cold-weather system or Gen III ECWCS, includes 12 components from underwear to parka and trousers, all intended to protect battlefield soldiers from cold, snow and ice. Both the ECWCS and the sleep system enable a soldier to survive and train in temperatures as low as -50 degrees without an additional heat source. |
