I read with great interest your article on EECP (enhanced external counterpulsation) in the June issue as a therapeutic option for people with congestive heart failure. EECP is a Food and Drug Administration-approved device therapy for angina that has an interesting history. EECP was approved to treat angina in 2000 after studies found that participants who received 35 hours of the therapy experienced fewer episodes of chest pain and were able to exercise for longer periods. |
