Education International is implementing an EFAIDS programme with a teachers' union in 26 countries, which combines advocacy for EFA at the national level with HIV/AIDS prevention in schools locally. Because only a few studies have examined the factor structure of the CES-D among older black men and there are inconsistencies of the factor structure of the CES-D when CES-D is administered to a black population, EFA was used in this study in order not to force a suggested factor pattern, as it is in confirmatory factor analysis (Foley et al. 46(p582)) That is, EFA allows the researcher to examine numerous variables and, under certain conditions, "to reduce them to a smaller, more manageable set of underlying concepts. |
