jpg CSR today announced that Agilent Technologies and Spirent Communications are to join CSR and Motorola in the EGPS Forum, the open industry forum for evaluating and fostering enhanced Global Positioning System (EGPS) technologies.
Over and above its own chip development, CSR has agreed with Motorola to launch the EGPS Forum and has successfully demonstrated its eGPS (enhanced GPS) concept of hybrid navigation technologies at Mobile World Congress in February, highlighting CSR's sustained commitment as well as showing the progress the company is making in bringing GPS to a wider range of applications including mobile phones.
CSR's CEO, Joep van Beurden commented, "Along with last month's announcement of the intention to form the EGPS Forum with Motorola, our working silicon and demonstrations at Mobile World Congress are all significant steps on CSR's roadmap towards adding high performance, yet power-efficient eGPS to cellular phones at an additional cost of less than $1.
