Our partners saw in the EHP Focus article "Paving Paradise: The Peril of Impervious Surfaces" (Frazer 2005) the statement on page A459: "Asphalt is one concern, as it contains coal tar pitch, a recognized human carcinogen. Preschoolers fed conventional diets had approximately six times higher levels of metabolized organophosphate pesticides in their bodies than children fed organic diets, according to a study at the University of Washington that will appear in a forthcoming EHP. The American Plastics Council respectfully requests that EHP address the misinformation that appeared in these articles and which is available on the EHP website. |
