The Paranal base sustains a sizeable community of astronomers and scientists, who nee d living quarters as well as laboratories, and Munich-based practice Auer + Weber (the ESO has its headquarters in Germany) were asked to design a new residential building for the observatory; a sort of hotel for boffins at the end of the world. Both models are calibrated to AG/E's proprietary database which contains extensive ESO data for more than 95 separate grants totalling over 30 million ESOs, and the client company's actual experience. Although employee stock options (ESO) have existed for some time now, corporate watchdogs are becoming increasingly wary about potential abuse of ESO and have seriously challenged the value of such compensation schemes. |
