Howard Berman, D-Mission Hills, and Stanford University identified him as a gifted student in its research project for the Education Program for Gifted Youth. Toward this end, the Education Program for Gifted Youth at Stanford University will begin working more closely with schools and school districts this fall to make our courses available to a larger number of students (present enrollment is about 2,200) and to integrate our courses into the students' academic routine. Xu participated in several summer programs that fueled her love of science including the Education Program for Gifted Youth at Stanford University where she studied introductory quantum mechanics, the Making of a Scientist at Denver University where she studied chemistry, applied mathematics, and computer programming, and the Summer Minority Engineering Training Program at the Colorado School of Mines where she ranked fourth overall and first in her class. |
