Panasonic, Thomson and JVC have agreed to establish a recycling program for the electronics and electrical equipment industries, in compliance with the requirements of the European Union's Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment ( Manufactures include metal products, transportation equipment, processed foods, machinery, electrical and electronic equipment, building materials, and steel. On June 7 the European Council (EC) unanimously adopted two controversial proposals: directive on the treatment of waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE Directive) and directive on the limitation of hazardous substances in such equipment (RoHS Directive). |
