The No Child Left Behind act reauthorized the $25 billion Elementary and Secondary Education Act, whose Title I program this year provided $12. Experts say this is the biggest overhaul of education law since passage of the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Congress responded with a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) that requires states to ensure that all students reach a certain level of proficiency within the next 12 years. |
