TELEFONOS DE MEXICO (TELMEX), a Mexican telecommunications company, offered an estimated US$915 million for all shares it doesn't already own of Embratel Participacoes, a Brazilian telecom. It will allow Embratel to offer its customers next-generation high-speed services and respond to a demand that is "exploding" in Brazil, according to Guilherme Ceotto Metello, director of network services at the company. TELEFONOS DE MEXICO (TELMEX), a Mexican telecommunications company, said it wrapped up an acquisition of a 38% stake in its Brazilian subsidiary Embratel for US$270 million. |
