EMPRESA ELECTRICA EMEC, a Chilean power distributor, sold its 58% stake in Argentine electricity company Agua Negra to a consortium of Jose Cartellone Construcciones Civiles, Empresa de Distribucion Electrica de Tucuman and Compania Electrica de Inversion for US$72 million. The election by EMEC to subjecting itself to the Investment Company Act of 1940 was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on May 12, 2006. Initiatives such as the EMEC, the world's first marine test center and Robert Gordon University's development of the Snail, a prototype turbine platform used for generating marine energy, have permitted Scotland to excel in renewables and to be a model for industrialized nations across the globe. |
