The Earth Award is awarded to buildings on the basis of operation efficiency, water and energy conservation and management of hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste (including reduce, re-use, recycle and recover programs). All of the entities involved in this scheme were organized in the same year; none of the general partners or promoters had anything more than limited experience in the field of energy conservation and management. At its peak, the center can produce around 200 megawatts of electricity," says Chris Wentz, the director of the state's energy conservation and management division, which is a part of the larger Department of Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources. |
