During the war years it had been impossible to continue normal activities but several members kept in touch with amateur stage work by giving service in shows by Entertainments National Service Association, better known as ENSA.
In 1945, she joined the Entertainments National Service Association (Ensa) and toured France, Belgium and Holland.
As with so many, the outbreak of war completely disrupted their lives and careers - her father went into the RAF - but many of their colleagues went on to perform in ENSA, the Entertainments National Service Association, which was set up during World War II to provide amusement for troops at the front.
