Parliamentary under secretary Iain Wright promised a place on an entry to employment course to all 16 and 17-year-olds affected.
Clr David Sheard, Kirklees Cabinet member for Highways, said: "The young people on the Entry to Employment programme have learned new skills during the course of the work and they should be proud of the quality of their workmanship.
They are taking part in a range of training programmes ranging from Flexible Routeways to Entry to Employment, students will also be enrolling on the Government's Flexible New Deal programme which starts on October 5.
