Through amendments to the Environmental Protection Act and the Ontario Water Resources Act, ministry officials would have the authority to respond within days of a spill to an environmental violation without having to go through the courts. Funding was made available under the authority of Part 169, Scrap Tires, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended. The outcome for another key piece of school-based legislation--the School Environmental Protection Act (SEPA)--is not as bright. |
