In a test-tube study, low doses of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)--the primary antioxidant in green tea--revived sick and dying neurons, reports Silvia Mandel of the Technion Faculty of Medicine in Haifa. Each 12-ounce can is fortified with 100 milligrams of caffeine and 90 milligrams of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), an antioxidant that occurs naturally in tea. These findings suggest that specific dosages of (-) epigallocatechin gallate and thymoquinone tested significantly reduces the growth of PANC-1 cells and therefore has a strong potential as a useful therapeutic regimen for inhibiting pancreatic cell proliferation. |
