The scheme being run with partners Birmingham and Solihull LIFT Co and Prime plc is funded by the Government's pounds 250 million national Equitable Access to Primary Medical Care programme.
The private sector is bidding, alongside GPs, on contracts for the management and operation of around 152 GP lead health centres and 100 GP practices - in other words core primary care services - as part of the Equitable Access to Primary Medical Care (EAPMC) programme, which Prime Minister Gordon Brown launched at the back end of last year.
