A 2005 survey by the Ethics Officer Association found that a majority of those who assume ethics or compliance officer roles are experienced professionals who have earned either law or advanced business degrees. Perhaps that's why half of the employees surveyed in a study sponsored by the Ethics Officer Association and the American Society of Chartered Life Underwriters & Chartered Financial Consultant admitted to acting unethically or illegally while on the job. What we've seen are examples of companies with a culture of, `I don't see anything, I don't know anything'," Ed Petry, executive director of the Ethics Officer Association, told the AP. |
