The company's smartcard reader has been certified for use with the credit cards of the Europay, Mastercard and Visa - the so-called EMV group.
As the Europay, MasterCard and Visa (EMV) migration is entering its final phase, its completion is expected to result in the roll out of smart cards in the banking sector in the third quarter of 2006.
1) The EMV standard, which is a body formed by Europay, MasterCard and Visa ("EMV"), ensures global interoperability across cards, platforms, and devices, and establishes the magnetic stripe to chip migration path and an open platform for payment cards.
