Early in 2008 Canada announced the successful conclusion of agreements with the European Free Trade Area and with Peru.
Examples here are the vote whether or not to join the European Economic Area (the European Community, as it then was, plus the European Free Trade Area) which the Swiss rejected in 1992, even though the headquarters of the European Free Trade Area are in Geneva; and the more recent votes on whether to join the United Nations.
