Expressed sequence tags unannotated for function may be discriminants for disease associations (Chapter 9). They identified DNA sequences known as expressed sequence tags (ESTs), which derive from active genes in tissue. The data, which consists of more than 200,000 lines of expressed sequence tags, more than doubles the amount of wheat genome information currently available through GenBank, a public database of DNA information. |
