In addition, each student receiving an overall average of 90% and all GOs will have passed the surveillance laboratory manager proficiency requirement, as determined by the FADL Director, and will receive the Surveillance Laboratory Manager certificate.
As a result of these aggressive training initiatives by DVS, complemented by the FADL, 100 technicians and 48 managers have been trained to date.
The FADL actively collaborates with the US Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine (USACHPPM) and USACHPPM-South (Fort Sam Houston, Texas) in some overlapping environmental surveillance missions (eg, vectorborne diseases and operational water safety).
To further develop this capability, the FADL has established a memorandum of understanding with the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases ** (USAMRIID).
The FADL gains additional benefit by sending laboratory scientists to FERN-provided training workshops involving advanced methods.
