The 19th annual FAIM (Flexible Automation and Intelligent Manufacturing) conference began yesterday and runs until Wednesday.
Professor Farhad Nabhani, FAIM conference chairman and professor of biomechanics and manufacturing at the university, said: "Manufacturing today must adjust to the current global recession and the demanding markets facing both the North East, the UK and international business.
FAIM is the only intercontinental quality system that exists for international moving companies and is rapidly becoming the quality standard demanded by multi-national companies.
