Some examples of FAPDS (frangible armour-piercing discarding sabot) rounds include the Oerlikon PMB 098, which was judged in Canadian tests to be the most effective anti-helicopter ammunition for the 25 mm Boeing M242 Bushmaster Chain Gun.
Oerlikon Contraves has developed a 23 mm FAPDS round specifically for the Shilka cannon and their towed equivalents.
The 20 x 102 mm FAP round was developed, again by Oerlikon, for M39 and M61 aircraft cannon and functions in much the same manner as the FAPDS rounds.
