The FMPO intervention is flexible and individually tailored, while achieving four overarching goals: (1) clarifying the benefits of family participation in treatment for the consumer, (2) enhancing relatives' motivation to participate in treatment, (3) providing consumers and relatives with basic information about psychiatric illness and treatment, and (4) solidifying relatives' relationship with the consumers' treatment team.
