The festival will exhibit a rich selection of films that reflect cultural diversity, the distinct and multiple interests of their creators and audiences, and the aesthetics of the seventh art, said Sheikha Jawaher, who is also the director of FUNN and Sharjah International Children's Film Festival.
Speaking at the opening ceremony yesterday, Shaikha Jawaher Bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, manager of FUNN and SICFF, announced that 175 films from over 20 countries have been chosen this year and many of the films submitted come from a number of internationally renowned filmmakers, in addition to various films from Latin America, Africa, Europe, and the Far East.
Speaking on the occasion, Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of FUNN and Director of SICFF, said, "We have introduced major changes and developments into this year's edition in line with our commitment to making the festival bigger and better year after year.
Representing FUNN was Jawaher Abdulla Al Qassimi, the assistant manager of FUNN and the director of the Sharjah International Children's Film Festival (SICFF); who signed the agreement with Humaid Mohammed Al Qutami, UAE Minister of Education.
Addressing press conference held in Sharjah yesterday, Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of FUNN and Director of SICFF said: "The 2015 SICFF will see a number of unique additions and developments in terms of the topics and quality of participating films, expanding the geographical range of film screenings, as well as the introduction of new events and training programmes and workshops held alongside this year's edition to enrich the local cinema scene and provide it with young creative talents".
Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of FUNN and SICFF, said: "Through the festival, we are striving to focus on issues and topics of interest to children in the region and world, while at the same time make cinema audiences aware of the children's perspective of the current situation and challenges in war-torn countries and places of refuge.

The films target three different age categories: under seven years, eight to 13 years, and 14 to 18 years, and will be shown to school children in the mornings, facilitated by an MoU that FUNN signed with the Ministry of Education, for public schools at the JRCC and for private schools at Grand Cinemas in Sahara Centre, while the venues will be open to the public in the afternoon.
The first 10-day exhibition organised by FUNN -- Sharjah Media Arts for Youth and Children, was held at Al Majaz Waterfront, It showcased the work of budding artists created during educational workshops throughout the year.
