Dario Frigo, then riding for Fassa Bortolo, was questioned by police two days later prior to the 11th stage of the race. It would be a surprise if Fassa Bortolo did not get someone in the decisive break and, while this is more of a guess-up than an easy-to-solve punting puzzle, Dario Frigo could have enough in his legs to represent value at 33-1. That allowed the unheralded Bernucci, riding for the Fassa Bortolo team, to claim the honours on the day and his first ever race win after the 199km ride from Troyes with a winning time of 4hrs 12min 52sec. |
