One 3D approach, the integration of active circuits inside the innerlayers on a multilayer rigid or flexible printed circuit board (FPCB), allows for a high degree of miniaturization.
The electronics are contained on a single flexible printed circuit board that eliminates the need for additional contact pins and controls anti-pinch, express up and down, and other functions.
By working with International Paper's Shorewood Packaging, we created a conductive ink sensor grid that could detect when a patient pushes a tablet out of a blister pack of medications, and record the time that dose was taken at by attaching the sensor grid to a flexible printed circuit board embedded inside the pharmaceutical package.
