March 19: Cruise Executives from the 11 Member Lines of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) celebrate the 15th Annual FCCA Gala Dinner and Entertainment Extravaganza, at the Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach.
Cozumel takes seriously the challenge of balancing continued growth of cruise tourism with protection of our island's natural heritage," said Cozumel's mayor, Gustavo Ortega Joaquin, about the agreement, which was facilitated by Conservation International, Cozumel's Department of Tourism and the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association.
The tax on cruise ships was announced at the time when the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) was holding its annual meeting in the Mexican resort of Cozumel in early October.
