Between 1995 and 1998 a cohort of 35,372 women was recruited, aged between 35 and 69 years with a wide range of dietary intakes, assessed by a 217-item food frequency questionnaire.
At the beginning of the European Prospective Investigation Into Cancer and Nutrition-Potsdam (EPIC-Potsdam) study-between 1994 and 1998-participants completed an assessment of their body weight and height, a personal interview that included questions about diseases, a questionnaire on sociodemographic and lifestyle characteristics and a food frequency questionnaire.
The rapid assessment method (RAM) for evaluating calcium intake was first established in 1989 as a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) by Angus et al.
