Under the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) of 1996, EPA needed to focus its resources on low risk pesticides, particularly insecticides that could be used to reduce the use of organophosphate and other higher risk products.
In 1996, Congress passed the Food Quality Protection Act, which directed the EPA to develop a program to identify substances with the potential to disrupt human hormonal systems, Meiller said.
Of course, even though this major environmental law, the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA), was passed without a single dissenting vote in either the House or Senate, it was still far from a perfect law.
