The EPA's pesticide review began in response to the passage of the 1996 Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA). The Environmental Protection Agency said in a statement it believed its ``decisions are protective of children's health and fully meet the toughest scientific and legal standards under the Food Quality Protection Act. To begin evaluating this quantitatively, the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 directed the Environmental Protection Agency to undertake special pollutant-exposure assessments for young children. |
