In my discussions with several former senior government officials and a few others who still serve in the Bush administration, I saw that a common theme and tone prevailed in their willingness to assess that which the Washington power structure and the prevalent American media mindset have refused to touch since September 2001: Why is criticism of the United States rising steadily around the world?
