Awarding the prize to Pamuk was "the best decision the Nobel Prize committee has taken for years," opined Germany's Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung the same day, likening it to 1970's Nobel Prize to the Soviet dissident author Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
That the journal he favors, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, is one of Germany's most respected financial and cultural broad-sheets, of course, does nothing to offset its ultimate dematerialization.
According to an August 12th report in the British newspaper The Guardian, Singer argued in a recent edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, one of Germany's leading newspapers, "that crime itself should be taken as evidence of brain abnormality, even if no abnormality can be found, and criminals treated as incapable of having acted otherwise.
