IN THE last five years, the value of television rights for the Grand National and Derby has fallen by a staggering 70 per cent, a situation that goes a long way towards explaining the Jockey Club's desire to see the abolition of the list of sporting events that are guaranteed free-to-air availability, a list that includes both races.
