The aircraft adopts innovative technology such as friction stir welding and other design innovations that significantly reduce manufacturing cost and allow for high-volume production. Despite a tight timeframe, the chassis makes use of adhesives, friction stir welding and roll bonding without adding excess weight, sacrificing rigidity, or impairing repairability. Three technologies in particular are leading the way: friction stir welding, the fiber laser, and additive manufacture. |
