The GED is often informally referred to as the General Equivalency Diploma, because those who pass the GED tests are considered to have educational skills equivalent to that of a high school graduate.
The council recommended creation of two stipend positions, one for a coordinator or facilitator for students who could get a high school diploma and another for a coordinator or tutor to help students receive a General Equivalency Diploma.
High schools need to stop advocating against proficiency tests, which enable students to graduate early, and general equivalency diplomas.
