In July, it is necessary to arrange general military training at the "soldier--squad" level in military units of the respective military district (at month-long training assemblies after the 1st and 2nd years), where students would take the oath of allegiance and receive military service record books. These were charged with registration and conscription of persons fit for military service; formation of the republic's armed forces; general military training of workers and peasants; and control of troops designed to service local needs in wartime and to meet the material requirements of local supply. There is a ceremony for bestowing the temporary stripes on students before the six-week period of general military training. |
