Abstract: Exenatide (synthetic exendin-4) is the analog of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), the major physiologic incretin. Glucagon-like peptide 1 revs up and refurbishes insulin-making cells of the pancreas and might spawn the growth of new cells (164: 104). Glucagon-like peptide (GLP) analogs inhibit gastric emptying, decrease glucagon release, and increase insulin secretion. |
