Nashville (dpa) - There is a big country-music show three times a
week in the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee. The Social Origins of the Urban South opens with a brief cultural history evaluating the tensions between modernity and tradition embodied in the business development and show content of the early Grand Ole Opry. Rusty Bickford of Tradition Guitars commented, "Now every Saturday night when you tune into the Grand Ole Opry to hear your favorite artist, you might look in the background to see what is being played to get that great sound. |
