During the two weeks of Astrodome/Reliant Center Complex operation, HCPHES directed a NIMS-compliant Incident Command Structure for medical operations and worked in coordination with multiple local, state, and federal agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to obtain technical assistance. In a statement made today by HCPHES, water analysis, based on two rounds of sampling on the wells, was reported to have revealed no evidence of known health risks associated with accessing or drinking water from wells, making the use of bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes no longer necessary and enabling all residents to return to their homes, with the exception of one family within 1,250 feet surrounding the well. |
