The letter, which was initiated by the Foundation for AIDS Research, also known as amfAR, highlighted President Barack Obama's stated commitment to reducing HIV incidence, noting that "accomplishing this laudable goal will require implementation of all available proven effective HIV prevention programs, including needle exchange programs.
Method Participants Participants for this investigation were drawn from a randomized clinical trial evaluating the effects of a couple-focused HIV prevention program ("Respecting and Protecting Our Relationships: HIV Prevention for Teen Fathers and Mothers") conducted in Los Angeles County.
The experiences reported by a sample of 15-21-year-olds who participated in a trial of an HIV prevention program in three cities in 1998-2002 shed light on the predictors of heterosexual anal intercourse among young people.
