Carl Spencer, aged 37, described as an "extremely talented but modest man" was a director of Hednesfordbased firm Spencair, and part of a 17-member crew commissioned by the National Geographic magazine to film the wreck of HMHS Britannic. In Italy, an underwater "trail" has been created in Ustica, where divers can admire several shipwrecks, (283) and in Greece, the HMHS Britannic wreck site is set to become a seabed museum. An early memory of Elizabeth's was the HMHS Rohilla coming to grief near Whitby, in October 1914, and the shelling of Whitby on December 16, 1914, when she and her brother Ben were playing on "the crag" as it started. |
