In large measure the HPAEs [High Performing Asian Economies] achieved high growth by getting the basics right. An HPAE may thus achieve affluence less than 80 years after its `take-off' into self sustaining economic growth; Taiwan achieved it in barely half that time. The HPAE had intended to call strikes as early as June 2, 2006 if new labor contracts were not finalized which could have potentially disrupted the provision of care, increased agency expense and decreased utilization statistics for the hospitals. |
