HSSDC connectors have been used by several large system suppliers and have captured a significant share of the market.
The HSSDC connector is a shielded cable mount connector, transmitting 1 bit at a time, exceeding 1 Gigabit/second and providing increased bandwidth over long distances.
These assemblies are available using the 8-pin HSSDC connector or the selectively loaded 9-pin FCP D-sub plugs, or a combination of the two connectors.
The Galaxy 55's new chipset and unique firmware allows users to have increased speed and scalability by incorporating dual six-channel Fibre-to-Fibre RAID controllers (two host channels/four disk channels), HSSDC copper connections, and two built-in 2-port hubs.
Also offered is a single GBIC Fibre Channel port, which supports HSSDC, Short Wave or Long Wave Optical protocols.
Dual, independent SCSI busses - Single GBIC connector supports HSSDC and Short Wave or Long Wave optical GBICS - Serverless backup option - Fixed power supply and fan - Available in High Voltage Differential or Low Voltage Differential Ultra2 SCSI - Fibre Channel FL-port support - Support for FC-AL, PLDA and public loop login - 10/100 BaseT Ethernet port for LAN-based management - RS-232 serial port for local management - Support for F-port, Class 2 and full duplex - Support for SNMP, Telnet, FTP and SCSI enclosure devices - ATTO BridgeTools software included for easy configuration and system upgrades
The Capellix 2000C switch integrates eight copper-media HSSDC ports to set a new pricing standard for SAN switching.
The Capellix 3000 modular SAN switch accommodates up to three PIMs, which enable "pay-as-you-grow" port scalability as well as mix and match configuration flexibility with a choice of GBIC, multi-mode dual-SC, DB-9, or HSSDC port connectors.
Their feature set includes the following: -- 2Gb/s and 1Gb/s link speed support; -- full SAN support (F-port and FL-port operation); -- BIOS support (enabling booting from local storage, or across an arbitrated-loop or fabric SAN); -- class 2 and class 3 support; -- FC-tape support for high-speed tape backup; and -- intra- and inter-cabinet connectivity (via an HSSDC connector).

Both the tower (DPT-RS/7F) and rackmount (DPT-RS/7FR) versions of the RAIDstation7 Fibre Channel Storage Array include two power supplies, two Advanced Cooling Modules, 3 meter HSSDC to DB9 copper cable, power cords and documentation, and are list priced at $4,995.
