This HUPO plasma pilot project has represented a landmark in the burgeoning field of proteomics, demonstrating the potential of a collaborative approach to yield robust and insightful data, which were made publicly available.
We compared the distribution of the cellular localizations of the proteins identified in PEx with the distributions obtained in other human proteome projects: HUPO Brain, HUPO Plasma, HUPO Urine.
The project proposals under discussion by HUPO lack focus or any clear biological context in which to do such studies.
