Sep 17, 2009 Honeywell Honeywell says it is working with the US Federal Aviation Administration "to understand the path to certification" of a combined synthetic and enhanced vision head-down display system that could be used to gain lower landing minimums in instrument flight conditions without a head-up display.
The June test flights were conducted on a Boeing 727-100 equipped with Rockwell Collins' HGS-4000 Heads-Up Guidance System, Max-Viz dual band infrared sensors, a Rockwell Multiscan hazard weather detection system and an LCD head-down display.
Four multifunction head-down displays (HDD) round out the situational awareness improvements for the pilots.
